Your account and the forum

Choose light or dark, pick a profile picture, set your email preferences, and talk trains with other members.

Step by step

  1. Open Account. Your collections lists every collection you belong to; choose one to open it.
  2. Your shared links, just below, lists every public link you've made: movies first, then your Showcase and single items. Each shows when it was made and how often it was opened, with Copy link, Look at it and Stop sharing. Links you've stopped are folded away under Stopped links.
  3. Under Appearance, choose Match my device, Light or Dark, and save. The sun or moon at the top of every page switches it too.
  4. Under Profile picture, choose A photo, A drawing or Just my initial, and save. Under Forum, choose the name other members see and whether you'd like reply emails or a daily summary, then save.
  5. Open Forum at the top of the page to read or start a topic. To show off an item, open it, choose Share, then Share in the forum.
  6. To change your email, use Change your email with your current password and follow the link we send to the new address. Change your password is on the same page.

Who can post

Anyone signed in can read the forum. To post, confirm your email address and belong to a collection that's on its free trial or a subscription. If that lapses, you can still read. A post can have up to 4 photos.

Your profile picture

It shows next to your name on the forum and on anything you share. With a photo, drag it to frame it in the circle and use Zoom to move closer. The picture we keep is a small square copy, without the hidden details a phone adds to photos (like where it was taken). Moderators can hide a picture that doesn't belong on a family-friendly site; you'll see a note on this page if that happens.

What sharing an item shows

The post keeps a copy of what the item is (title, type, maker, catalog number, scale, road, era and condition) and its main photo. What you paid, its value, where it's stored, its serial number, its description and its story are never included. Anything you type into the post itself is visible to every member.

Replies and reporting

Starting or replying to a topic follows it, and reply emails are bundled together. The daily summary of new topics is optional. Use Report on a post to flag it for the moderators.

Account changes

Changing your password signs you out everywhere else. A new email address takes effect once you click the link we send to it. Deleting your account is permanent: download the collections you own first and read the explanation on that page.
