Find items and change many at once

Search the collection, narrow the list, and change a group of items in one go.

Step by step

  1. Type in the search box on the collection page: a catalog number, maker, railroad, storage place or words from a description.
  2. Open Filters to narrow the list by type, scale, maker or tag, and to change the sort order.
  3. Choose List or Photos above the items to see them as rows or as a grid of pictures. Your choice is remembered.
  4. Choose Select, then tick items or choose Select all on this page.
  5. Pick an action under With the selected items: add or remove a tag, change where they're stored, change their status, take pieces out of a set, archive them, or print labels. Owners can also note who they're meant for one day.
  6. Fill in anything the action asks for and choose Apply. Choose Done to go back to the normal list.

Select all means this page

Select all on this page picks the items you can see, not every match in the collection. Check what's ticked before you apply a change.

Archive and restore

To put one item aside, open it, choose Edit, and use Move to archive. Archive lists archived items (a tab in Full view; under More in Simple view, and linked under the list); open one to restore it. Archiving keeps the item and its photos. Archived items don't count toward your plan, so restoring one needs room on the plan.

Searching with several words

Every word you type has to match something on the item, in its details or its tags. If nothing comes up, try fewer words or clear the filters.
