Enjoy your photos as a slide show or a movie

Play a slide show, make a movie of up to 5 minutes in a frame you choose, or turn a photo into a post card.

Step by step

  1. Open Slide show and choose All aboard to start.
  2. Use Previous, Pause and Next. You can change the seconds per photo, hide the titles, shuffle, put the photos in a frame with the square button (the same frames as movies), turn the music on or off, choose the music with the round music picture next to it, and go full screen. Your choices are remembered on that device.
  3. Choose Close to go back. With a keyboard: Escape closes, Space pauses, C turns titles on or off, L opens the frames, M turns the music on or off, T opens the music choices, and F switches full screen.
  4. To make a movie, open Movies. Under Photos, choose Pick for me and how many (one photo of each train, picked at random; Shuffle picks again), or Choose my own and tap the photos in the order you want. The strip under it shows every photo the movie will hold.
  5. Under Look, pick a frame: a railroad ticket, a depot postcard, a builder's plate, a departure board, a display case, Christmas, a thin cream border, or no frame at all. The frames write your collection's name and each train's title on them. Then pick the Music (tap the play button on any tune to listen first).
  6. Open More options to change the pace (quick, normal or relaxed) or to put your own words on the opening and closing cards.
  7. Choose Preview it as a slide show to see it first, then Make my movie. It's made in the background, so you can close the page: we email you when it's ready. Stop cancels it.
  8. When it's done, watch it or download it. Get a link to share makes a link anyone can watch; Copy link copies it, and Stop sharing turns the link off. Every link you've shared is also listed on your Account page under Your shared links.

Where to find them

In Simple view choose Show it off: the slide show, movies and your Showcase are all there. In Full view they have their own tabs.

What a movie looks like

Your photos with a title card, slow zooms, cross-fades and music, in the look you chose. The whole photo always shows: nothing is cut off to fit a frame. A movie can be up to 5 minutes long, which is 70 photos at the quick pace, 47 at normal and 35 at relaxed. A short movie is ready in a minute or two; the longest take several minutes.

A movie of some of your trains

Search or filter your collection, then choose Export & print and A movie of these. On a train's own page, Make a movie of this train uses all of its photos, and the Showcase has a link for a movie of the pieces in it.

Keeping your movies

Your newest 5 movies are kept, plus any you share or mark Keep this one (up to 10 of those together; a shared one is kept until you stop sharing it). Older ones make room for new ones, so download any movie you want to keep for good. Each collection can make 20 movies a month.

Sharing

Anyone with a movie's link can watch that movie without being a member, so pick the photos with that in mind. The link shows only the movie, never the rest of your collection. When you send it in a message, it shows a picture from the movie.

Post cards

Under any photo on an item, Photo options → Make a post card makes a picture of it in your collection's look (the one your last movie used), with the item's title and your collection's name, ready to save, print or send. With the cream border or no frame, it's a cream card.

Removing a movie

Removing a movie deletes it for good and turns off its link. Download a copy first if you want to keep it.
